Homeowner shoots back at M-16/AR-15 wielding robbers
CCTV:Feb 05/09.Tucson,Arizona,A homeowner, alerted of an impending home invasion by his security cameras, arms himself and takes matters into his hands last Thursday when four armed suspects attempt to break into his home. Also attached is the news story*...top right.
The video the owner caught is incredible. You see a vehicle pull up, and four men run out. One of them is carrying what appears to be an AR-15 or M-16, a weapon which could be fully automatic.
PSH aside, watch the video. Dude takes on a rifle-wielding assailant with a handgun - that takes stones. Now, granted, given that this guy seemed to be expecting trouble (sitting at home watching multiple security cameras?) and the, err, nature of the robbery (check out the pimped out 300 used for the getaway car), I'm going to be careful to make this dude out to be more than he is.
But still. Taking on multiple assailants, one of which is armed with a longarm, is pretty freakin' ballsy... Pity it doesn't count as a Dead Goblin...
That is all.

Yeah, I think ol' Paul Harvey needs to get "the rest of the story" on this one.
Other than that, it is a perfect example of how criminals don't like it when you fight back.
What do you mean not everybody has video cameras outside their house? And takes the time to watch them? It's probably less obtrusive than concertina wire and claymore mines. We should probably give this guy a pass.
"Dude takes on a rifle-wielding assailant with a handgun - that takes stones."
I agree, but remember that we are talking about a bunch of thugs here; the odds are that the idiot with the rifle would be shooting from the hip and couldn't hit anyone except by accident. That said, I think the homeowner showed that one person with guts and practice beats four assholes when it comes to a scrap.
I'm thinking it was a case of "Give me back my Crack/weed/money, BITCH!" kinda scenario.
Dude with the AR is carrying it lefty and one handed. His right hand is doing a poor job of pulling his hoodie up at the neck in an attempt to hide his face.
Not just poor technique. Hell, he's virtually a walking target.
The hefty guy running away has his back to his opponent. Center mass? Plenty of mass!
The driver? He's either bleeding, crapping his pants, or both.
The only thug with any sensible moves was the one who didn't stop running just as fast as he could.
As for the homeowner, yep. Balls. Biggns.
Still, I agree with the earlier call on it. Thug vs. Thug(s). As is always the case, Follow The Money.
Speaking of which, that's my $0.02 worth.

Rustmeister,
Like I said, I wanted to point out the chutzpah involved in taking on multiple assailants...
Sigboy,
Heh. I figure we'll eventually get the rest of the story and find out that, like Jim says, it was most likely thug-on-thug.
BobG,
Oh, absolutely. The dude wasn't carrying it in a ready or even semi-ready position - I think he was counting on it being an intimidating factor and little else.
(At least he didn't have the magazine in backwards like the female cop we've all seen...)
Heath,
I was thinking more the "True Romance" aspect - they were going to rob a bigger dealer and got pwned...
Jim,
I would bet good money your assertion (thug-on-thug) is correct.
The only thing is, the cops are involved now. The homeowning thug is going to be in a world of hurt if they start poking around.
Which just makes my heart bleed. No, really...
Heh.
