Victory!!!

Heh.

Brought BabyGirl G to the gun store this morning while her brother was at his First Communion retreat. We walk into the place, and she takes one look at the display of pink and purple Cricketts on the counter and exclaims,
"Ooh, Daddy, can I get one of those?"

Sometime next week I might be able to chisel the smile off my face...

I told her that in a couple of years, when she was a little older, we would be back to get one for her. I asked her if she knew what it was, and she thought it was a BB gun. I told her it was a real rifle, like the one her brother was going to shoot this year, and she was equally pleased. Needless to say, so was Daddy.

Oh, and I scored some reasonably priced 9mm and .45 ACP, as well as some not-too-horrifically increased .223. You might be a gun nut if you need a cardboard box to carry all your ammo out of the store...

That is all.

I have the greatest respect for men who openly and unabashedly love their children, boys and girls alike.

You should have bought it for here then and there in case it would be unavailable in a few years, because of a certain shit-for-brains in the Oval office.

Congratulations Jay! You're doing it right.

Popcorn,

Thanks. My kids are, without a doubt, my greatest and crowning achievement...

OrangeNeckInNY,

Y'know, that's not a bad idea. I wasn't about to do it today, since she was already starting to lose containment (hey, she's five!).

However, I'm thinking it might be best for her and I to go together to pick it out - I mean, after all, I'd simply hate to get the wrong color!

alan,

Thanks. I'm really looking forward to the day I can take both kids to the range with me...

I figure we'll have a firing line of .22 rifles and a vast array of eeeeevil orange clays to defeat.

The battle will be epic...

Which shop was it, Jay?

I'm out the door right now to hit Collectors. I may hit Four Seasons too.

Weer'd,

It was State Line Guns in Plaistow, NH.

(If you head that way, WalMart just down the road had ammo significantly cheaper - but with significantly worse service and selection. YGWYPF...

I went to cabela's to look for a inexpensive pistol case, and while I didn't find one, I did wind up buying roughly $100 in ammo (including some .45 for a rarely-fired safe queen). As they were ringing me up, one of my thoughts was "WWJGD?"
:)

There is NOTHING like going to the range with your kid.

I hope that all her friends want them, too. Heh.

What was .223 running per 50?

Sara,

WWJGD? Buy moar ammo!!! (I dropped close to $200 yesterday, but most of that was in anticipation of tomorrow's shootin' goodness...)

Old NFO,

No kidding. I'm regretting not picking up more of that $9.50/box 9mm... .45 ACP was only $16/box... I'm starting to run out of room in even the reserve locker, tho'...

Dave,

It's stories like yours that give me hope for our nation. Especially the "hate Democrats" part... ;)

Borepatch,

In just a few short months The Boy will be joining me at the gun club.

I can't wait...

MauserMedic,

The gun shop had 200 round packs of Prvi Partisan for $120 and Wolf for $109. 50 round boxes at WalMart were $27.

Whereas the 20 round boxes of the same damn ammo were $10 each.

Basic math. UR doin it rong...
