The 91/30 as Yardstick...

At the Third Annual Northeast Bloggershoot, I took a picture whimsically showing that Lissa was shorter than a Mosin Nagant. Well, I had no idea that I would be setting the precedent of using a Mosin Nagant 91/30 with attached bayonet as a yardstick for measuring female gunnies:

Who's Taller?

It's hard to tell from the pictures - and the fact that there are two different rifles - just who is taller here. Obviously there is only one solution possible: Get Lissa and Breda together at the Fourth Annual Northeast Bloggershoot for a back-to-back comparison! In any case, both of these girl gunbloggers are shorter than a 91/30...

It just goes to show that good things come in small packages!

That is all.

OK, now I gotta bring the Mosin to the next Appleseed Shoot - one of our instructors is a lady gunnie and, to quote Inigo Montoya, "I must know".

Heh.

Snap a pic and send it - we'll start a file... :)

It's the new metric system ... all communist and stuff. "Breda? Why, she's 0.9 Mosins. Jay? He's a tall one, 1.3 Mosins."

Heh. I should have shot that thing.

Also, I should have totally worn the tactical pigtails.

If you come to the Fourth Annual Northeast bloggershoot you can both shoot a Mosin Nagant 91/30 *and* wear tactical pigtails...

Just sayin'...

I've seen plenty of 91/30s, but never with the bayonet attached. Dang thing is hella long.

I'm going with the Mosin. :)

And yes Breda, you need to shoot one. I mean how many folks can say they've shot a rifle that's taller than they are?

ZerCool - It's the other way around. A Mosin is 0.9 Bredas.

Mike - not with the bayonet mounted, which as we all know, is the only proper way to shoot a Mosin.

Jay,
Pretty soon we'll have to start measuring Lissa and Breda in smoots.

D'oh! More like 1.1 Breda's. I didn't embiggen the picture and at 1st glance in the thumbnail it looked like Breda edged out the Mosin by a smidge.

I'll blame it on lack of coffee. Yeah, that's it.

Yeah, but how many ARSHINS is that? :-D

(Damn. under the commies, all the old model 91's were converted to meters. I have one, regrettably not shootable anymore, that is stamped with an imerial crest and dated 1897. The rear sight leaf is bent slightly to---supposedly---convert it from arshins to meters. Neat.)
