Disgusting

Maybe it's a Monday thing, but today seems to be the day of the crappy news stories (okay, with the notable exception of the DGC addition)...

Money Stolen From Roxbury Church Poor Boxes
ROXBURY (CBS) – Father Raymond Collins says he can’t understand why someone would steal from the poor.

“It was very clear there was a break in. It is leaded stained glass so it would take some money to bring it back and restore it,” he told WBZ-TV.
Not only did the thief or thieves steal several hundred dollars collected to help the poor, but they destroyed a century-old stained glass window in their zeal to break in. Rather than jimmy open a lock, or pry open a window, they simply smashed in a historic glass window to gain entrance to the church. Once inside, they helped themselves to the contents of the poor box and the shrine box. It's a shameful double whammy - not only is the church out the money they collected to help the less fortunate, but they will now have to repair or replace a stained glass window.

Just when I think people have hit rock bottom, someone produces a jackhammer and starts digging...

That is all.

I used to do stained glass, worked up to doing a few church windows and some other larger pieces.

Even did some repairs on an old church window that a rock had been thrown through.

You can't ever match the glass. The color, hue and texture of the glass is always unique and even if money was no object, reproducing an unknown mix of chemicals on a different surface a hundred years after the fact will not be possible. And even if you get close, it will still look different when light shines through it than it does when light shines on it. The damage is irreparable.
