Elderly Lynn woman attacked by thieves outside home

LYNN, Mass. -- An elderly Lynn woman was left bruised and bandaged after two thieves attacked her outside of her home and stole her purse on Monday.

“I’m not feeling good. I’ll be truthful with you, I’m aching all over, but that will take a few weeks and I’ll be fine,” said Geneva Sozanski, who was attacked outside her home.

Sozanski has her head bandaged and is now suffering from a concussion. She can’t believe that she was attacked in her driveway, all because someone wanted that great grandmother’s purse.

Knocked unconscious over the contents of her purse. An 89 year old great grandmother suffered a concussion because some lowlife scumbag felt that the money in her purse was worth more than her life - had that good Samaritan not happened by, who's to say she would have been found before she bled to death? What kind of person viciously beats an 89 year old woman so badly that she loses consciousness?

This is what the gun-grabbers would have as the default. They would prefer that the young and the strong rule the roost; that those who would beat an old woman unconscious for the few dollars in her purse be the ones that call the shots. Make no mistake - you take away the tools for self defense and it becomes downright Darwinian - only the strong survive. What chance does an 89 year old woman have against two young male thugs? Well, as evidenced here, very little.

This is what happens when law-abiding folks are denied the basic right of self-defense. We are stripped of the best tools with which to defend ourselves, and as a result, the strong and brutal take what they want and to hell with everyone else. Women, who are generally smaller than their male counterparts? Well, you're fresh out of luck. Same goes for the elderly, or the handicapped, or kids. You can't hold your own against a drug-addled 20 year old male? Oh well. Better hope they only want your money.

We've heard enough from the Bradys and Million Moms and Diane Feinstein to know that they want nothing less that the full and complete revocation of the Second Amendment. They would love to see a UK-style gun ban, where handguns are completely forbidden and rifles are insanely regulated, such that firearms are completely off the table as method of self defense. In some bizarro-land dream world, they figure that by banning all guns, criminals will somehow magically stop being thugs, and we'll all live in peace and harmony, singing Kumbaya and wearing hemp. In the real world, thugs continue to be thugs and will assault, beat, rape, and kill people with the same animal ferocity as before - we'll just have to engage them at their level than from a position of strength.

A very wise man opined that "the gun is civilization". A famous truism was coined: "God created man, Sam Colt made them equal." - truer words have not been spoken. The only thing that could spare someone like Mrs. Sozanski a savage beating at the hands of feral thugs is a firearm. While some might advocate pepper spray or other "less than lethal" alternatives, the deterrent factor (call it the "Get Off My Lawn" factor) of a large bore firearm speaks the universal language of overwhelming force that is the only thing a goblin understands. Anything less puts the victim at a disadvantage - less-than-lethal, knives, or blunt objects require strength and proximity to be effective. Not as much of an issue for someone like your humble host; a major stumbling block to a nearly 90 year old great-grandmother...

Predators see only prey and threats - take away the talons and fangs, and all those predators see are food.
