Man In Wheelchair Shoots, Kills Intruder
BALDWIN, Pa. -- One man was killed Sunday and another person was hurt in a shooting in Baldwin, official investigators said.Now, as is common with these stories, details are pretty slim. By the meager account given, the goblin came in through a window and started shooting, hitting the disabled victim once in the hand. Victim returns fire, killing the goblin on the scene. Goblin (like Han) shot first, except that he apparently had lousy aim. Our hero, however, did not.
The shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. at an apartment building in the 5400 block of Youngridge Drive.
Once again, I'd like to remind our readers and lurkers that this is exactly the sort of thing that the Brady Campaign would like to stop. They would rather a disabled person in a wheelchair face a young, aggressive predator without the proper tools of self defense. But then again, in their twisted world, this shooting will count as a "child killed by gunfire", as the deceased was "only a teenager" when he was reduced to room temperature.

No. The DGC up until 11:59PM, 12/31/10 included all deceased choirboys since the inception of the DGC in 2008. I prefer to keep it going, adding to the overall total.
Of course, unlike Han, the goblin was not justified in shooting first.

Joe Huffman had a post last week which pointed out the same thing by quoting some anti-gun type who said "A real man will protect himself with his fist like we were born to do. A big fat Wussy will use a gun because he is a chicken-s&*t that has to kill someone to get his point across." Apparently, in his world, it's okay to kill someone in a wheelchair, because he can't "use his fists" to defend himself effectively.
On another note, I had assumed that you would reset the DGC for the new year. It would be interesting to see it broken down into a "Total DGC" and a "2011 DGC".

Minor correction, it was apparently the disabled man's son who the goblin shot in the hand.
"Bombara said he was shot in the hand by the intruder, Lairy James-Watson, 19, of McKees Rocks, before his father fatally shot James-Watson with a handgun."
From an update in today's paper:
"A man who fatally shot an intruder in Baldwin this weekend won't likely faces charges, Baldwin police Chief Michael Scott said this morning."

Awwww, I thought 115 was the total just for 2010. Now I'm disappointed. ;)
