Alleged burglars killed in home invasion identified as teenagers
New Orleans - One person is dead and another person is at the hospital after a resident shot at the men during a home invasion Friday morning in New Orleans East, police said.I understand the legal reasons behind using "allegedly". I think it's BS, but I can understand why papers put it in. However, they proceed to follow it up with this:
The homeowner was sleeping when he heard someone throw a brick through one of his windows. He got up and armed himself when he saw two people coming through the window. He fired several shots, killing one man and critically injuring the other, police said.Yeah, that'll get you killed right there. Tossing a brick through a window is a dumbass move - it's loud, it doesn't gain immediate entry, and it illustrates bad intent right off. It gave the homeowner time to access his weapon and dispatch of the intruders, and rightfully so. Once again, you have ABSOLUTELY no idea what they have in store for you when they break into your house in such a violent manner (or in a non-violent manner, for that matter). Tossing a brick through the window indicates, at least to me, that they didn't care who heard them coming in - and that's a frightening thought right there.
The worst part, though, is that the goblin killed will be counted as a "child killed by gunfire" by the Brady Bunch.
Dead Goblin Count: 128
That is all.

Not that there is any bias exhibited by the author of the article, or anything. But note how the perps are characterized, and how at the end of the article it asks people to call Crimestoppers if they have any information about that or another shooting (not a righteous one like this one) and lumps them together.
Nope, no bias here.
And yes, they will be added to the numbers of "children" killed by firearms.
