Follow-up...

Craig sent me an e-mail with a single word in the title: Chuck. It was an update on the story of Chuck the puppy and the efforts of his humans to get him home. Seems they recently had some good news, you see: They reached their goal! Apparently the folks at S.W.A.T. magazine kicked in a big chunk of change to help the efforts, donating half the money needed to meet their fundraising goal. That's worth a "like" right there.

All too often, we focus on the negative; what's wrong with life and everything. Sometimes it's good to read about things going right; about good people stepping up and doing good things and helping out folks that need it. These stories don't often surface - the old adage of "if it bleeds it leads" still rings true, so I figured it was worth a shout out to let folks know there's some good news every once in a while. The folks that have set up the "Bring Chuck Home" website and Facebook page are going to keep accepting donations and finding other pets to help bring home, so it's going to keep on giving back.

It's nice to start the day with a smile, don't you think?

That is all.

Agree completely! yesterday evening I was visiting my folks and a commercial for the Wounded Warrior Project came on. I started talking about that, and Project Valor - IT, Soldiers' Angles, Cooking for the Troops, and a number of the other purely voluntary, bottom-up things people are doing for US and allied military personnel. Mom and Dad were surprised at the number but not that normal, decent people go out of the way to help others.

It is like the head of the local food bank said this weekend: "I'm just mentioning the need because I know everyone will pitch in and help. That's what we do."

Yep. I "liked" Chuck's FB page, and got it on my feed yesterday. Wonderful news! I just hope they can get him safely to Tigger House. after that, it's smooth sailing!
