As the SR9 represents Ruger's first polymer pistol (the LCP/LC9 don't really count, as they're copies of Kel-Tecs) to come from the folks at Ruger, I was curious how it compared to other compact polymer handguns, specifically the Smith & Wesson M&P9 compact and the Glock 26. I don't think I'll be getting a Glock 26 to test any time soon, but the M&P, well, let's say it's a distinct possibility.
Finding out that I didn't need to invest in a holster was the icing on the cake:
Two possibilities
Here's a couple holsters I thought might fit: A CrossBreed SuperTuck I picked up for my Smith & Wesson SW99 compact, and a Don Hume leather IWB holster I got for my Glock 30. Given that both are approximately the same size as the SR9c, I thought maybe one of them would fit...
SW99 holster
Glock 30 holster
And, as it turned out, they both fit the SR9c! Since one of the criteria for the review is going to center around how the gun carries, finding out that I don't have to invest money in a decent IWB holster for it really helps. It means I can buy more ammo for shooting!
See? Gunnies love recycling!
That is all.

First? My earlier P95 and P97 just got their feelings hurt, and they've always run like clockwork. Meanwhile, my not-so-first but only one week new SR9 is on it's way back to Ruger after blowing the loaded chamber indicator off after 200 rounds.
I really look forward to your review of the SR9C. Please keep us posted.
Sorry, I didn't finish that - should read first polymer striker-fired...
I've only put ~ 100 rounds through mine so far, but no issues yet...
I can relate to this. Have a S&W J-frame Airweight that I usually carry in my motorcycle jacket. It rides in a well-made leather pocket holster, not sure of the brand because the marking is worn off. Let my wife carry the Smith for a time and decided to carry my Colt Government .380 Pocketlite in it's place. Amazingly, the Colt fit into the pocket holster like it was made for it. The holster would press against the mag release, so I put a 1/4" hole in it with an arch punch and solved that issue. I would have never believed that two such different guns would fit so well in the same holster!
Meanwhile, Staving Holster Makers are begging for help in today's Tough Economy. That's why a monthly donaton of just 10 dollars to Save the Holstermakers..; )
