Victim Selection FAIL...

Reader Jeff thought I was having my blood pressure raised a little too much, and sent me this story in the hopes that it would have a calming effect. It worked...

Police: Soldier Being Robbed Pulls Gun On Assailants

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A soldier and his wife stopped a robbery on Tuesday night when the soldier pulled a gun on the assailants and fired, police said.

The husband and wife had just been transferred from Fort Hood to Colorado Springs. They were taking a walk in their new neighborhood at 10 p.m. when they were approached by two masked assailants, police said.

The thugs told the soldier and his wife to get on the ground, at which point the soldier drew his gun, scaring the thugs off. One of them turned and pointed a gun at the couple, at which point the soldier fired his sidearm, narrowly missing a DGC addition.

Better luck next time, soldier, and good on you for carrying your gun!

That is all.

Fort Hood? I wonder if he's with the 10th Mountain Division. Those folks don't screw around. A lot of the guys from there have spent way too much time in Afghanistan to put up with some punk wannabe.

I hope he doesn't get an Article 15 for carrying in uniform. Oddly enough, it's against regulations. Which, as a Soldier, pisses me off. Good on him for carrying anyway.

@Dave H: You mean 1st Cav, right? 10th Mountain is from Fort Drum, NY.
