I too am saving pennies, shekels, drachmas, and perhaps even Euros for a 1911 too. I'm leaning towards the now MA-compliant Remington 1911 R1. I've read nothing but very good things about it . . . and local fun shop has this for a shade over six benjamins.
I'm no expert on this, having only gotten my license in May of 2011. Email me at "bradr65" at gee-male dot com. I can't speak to Para's quality . . . I just don't know.

Open Invitation for New Shooters
Just want to extend an open invitation to all potential new shooters in the Northern Virginia area. If you have never shot a firearm, or would like to get back into the shooting sports, or are an accomplished shooter who'd like to try something in my arsenal, give me a shout.
New shooters get range time, targets, gun use and ammo on me. I've even got extra eye and ear protection - all you have to do is show up.

Haverhill hound rod and gun! I am thinking of joining. Are you a member?
Good eye!
I am a member of HHRG, actually. I'd be happy to show you around - I love our little club!
That would be cool.
That would give me an excuse for actually submitting my application.
BTW- got the M&P340 based on your review. Excellent little pocket gun. Although the 357 mag goodness is a little rough with the stock grips.
Now I am saving my pennies for a 1911. Just wish Kimber was MA compliant.
Any suggestions on a 1911's?

Brad-
Remington sounds good. I'll keep it in mind. I have been considering S&W, Sig, and para ordnance.
Have you heard anything about Para Ordnance? They make an interesting line up.
