So Barack Obama is filling in his administration. This is how the cabinet is shaping up:
Vice President: Joe Biden, 30+ years in the Senate.
Chief of Staff: Rahm Emmanuel. Current IL congressman and former Clinton administration advisor.
Head of transition team: John Podesta. Deputy Chief of Staff in the Clinton White House.
Secretary of State (poss.): John Kerry (30 years US Senate) or Bill Richardson (Clinton Energy Secretary).
Secretary of Health and Human Services: Tom Daschle, former Senate Majority leader.
Not a lot of change from the past, is there? In fact, one could say this is a whole lot more of the same. Hell, it's pretty much Bill Clinton's third term, one could even say. Y'know, just like one of the main smears against John McCain being that his administration would be George Bush's third term. Only the media wasn't interested in investigating exactly how much "change" there would be in Obama's Hopenchange™...
Oh yeah, Barack Obama is really looking to "shake up" Washington. He's bringing bold new thinking to the Oval Office - by stacking it with long-time Democrat insiders. This is the "change" we were promised? Obama's going to change the tone of Washington by hiring Rahm Emmanual? The man who allegedly sent a dead fish in a box to a political rival? Oh, yes, this is going to "heal our souls".
Gah. The hypocrisy is hip-deep and getting deeper.
That is all.

Jay tell me you really didn't expect him to change anything but who is getting all the kick backs. . .
He will line his pockets, screw us and move on like all the rest of them.
I think he will be a Carter II and hopefully be tossed out in 4
actually lets go for a Patric II, he can'd do sh#% and he shows off how far in left field he is then out in 4
jd,
I wouldn't bet a plug nickel on that. The guy just went through a campaign where the GOP vice presidential candidate went through more press scrutiny in 3 weeks than Obama did during his 18 month campaign (a.k.a., press tour). It took a plumber to ask him a tough question. It took two local channels to ask Joe Biden tough questions in the last week of the race.
It won't matter if unemployment is 9%, the front pages will still praise the messiah. He's teflon.
The only thing to be done is start the grassroots efforts for a ground game, do the behind the scenes work in getting the youth actually educated about the real world where a candidate that says - unbelievably - that his 'spread the wealth' plans to put money in the pockets of college kids so they can download itues are laughed at instead of accepted. (it happened. No joke, Obama did that. Zero scrutiny)
A guy just ran a campaign on socialism and didn't hide it. And he won.
We're in different times, folks. Right now 18-25 year olds think it's their right to have the possessions of their fellow citizens, via government confiscation. Lotsa work to do. Won't be done in a short period of time.
Not pessimistic. Realistic.
JD,
I sure as hell didn't expect any different.
The MSM, OTOH, reported every HopeyChangey word, breathlessly.
I honestly think that this campaign will go down in history as the most nakedly partisan the media has been to date.
I thought they were in the tank for Clinton. This past campaign recalibrated my definition of "in the tank"...
RW,
The other thing we most certainly need to do is to get the fucking Stupids to STOP RUNNING LEFT.
They CANNOT out-spend, out-gimme, or out-pander the left. Ain't gonna happen. Why would people vote for imitation Democrats when they can have the real thing?
We need to start DEMANDING conservatism from the GOP, and make it abundantly clear that unless and until they start acting like, well, conservatives, they get NOTHING from us.
They'll get the message, or die trying. Listen or perish.
And yes, educate the children.
I haven't posted my son's "essay" on why he supports Obama, because I haven't stopped shaking with rage enough to do it without getting myself arrested. Suffice to say, the brainwashing, even in my right-leaning town, is appalling.
If there were any way in G-d's Green Earth I could homeschool my kids would be gone in a HEARTBEAT.
Essay? WTF? Not one of those instances we hear about where teachers give the students an assignment that is really nothing more than liberal indoctrination, is it? Say it ain't so.
But, please, do tell.
Actually, the implosion's gonna be a little fun to watch, imho.
phlegmfatale I am with you. I think if he does not stagnate he will implode. The media is a mess, they are as likely to turn on him as help if they see it as in their best interest and they might if they start losing followers over their coverage and bad news sells better than good. I think they will turn on him because it sells now that he is in. It may take a bit but it will happen.
RW I am all for the grass roots stuff. I have been sure to keep my kids thinking right as much as I can and making them think about this stuff. Our schools aren't so bad and may even have been anti Obama as my 10 yr old wanted to know if she would get drafted if Obama won like they said at school. . .
It will be an ugly four years, but I think Patrick has shown that Congress will vote whatever way gets them re-elected so Obama may not get the free ride he expects if we keep the heat up.
And on the good side for MA, we may get rid of Patrick and Kerry if they join Obama in his new world order . . . .
Jay,
Please tell me you are not surprised by this. In your heart of hearts, did you really expect The Chosen One to do anything other than perform heinous acts of cronyism? Didn't think so.
That said, there's more you should know about Rahm Emmanuel. First, any rumor, comment or innuendo that Obama is anti-Jewish or anti-Israel can possibly be called into question. Emmanual is many things, two of which bear mention.
1) He's the son of Israeli parents
2) He's a "modern orthodox" Jew.
I seriously doubt that the Whitehouse Chief of Staff, traditionally a very close advisor of any president, would suggest international action which harmed the country of this man's heritage. If he does, then in my book Emmanuel has no business calling himself a Jew.
Putting aside those two things, I have a number of problems with him. First, he hails from the same congressional district as current IL governor Rod Blagojevich, aka "Red Blow-it-out-your-ass-ovich" as I like to call him. He's a total, fellating Clinton hack. He's totally in bed with The Brady Bunch, et., al., and in fact voted in 2005 to reinstate the AWB. Permanently.
One thing I fail to understand is how, given our history, any Jew could be in favor of just about any kind of gun control. This is a question which will boggle my mind for all my days on this earth. [/soapbox]
I'm with you . . . Gah.
Just when I thought it couldn't get anymore liberal (living in MA), the inevitable happens. The only short-lived joy I felt was for my black friends. That's it.
Welcome to the USSA. What's mine is
yours(?)
Hello to Jay and everyone else. I'm Dave the new guy. Sorry, I'm a blog noob.
They CANNOT out-spend, out-gimme, or out-pander the left.
But God knows they tried.
Dave - Welcome to Liberal Hell. . . hold on to your guns, and keep your powder dry
= )
Y'know, that's a really, really white cabinet, ain't it? (With the possible exception of Bill Richardson.) I thought Republicans were the White Old Party? That Dems were all about diversity?
Sabra,
The diversity is at the top - now O is looking for experience.
I expected exactly what we got after Pelosi's "civility, integrity, and bipartisanship" speech - more of the same.
