Does It Make Me A Bad Person...

...that I chuckled a little at this:

Israeli strike reportedly kills top Hamas official

Now, it's not so much that a Hamas official got whacked that made me laugh (although any time a terrorist asshole buys it, I hear Nelson Muntz say "Ha-HA!" in my head...). It's this part:
U.N. headquarters hit
Israeli troops shelled the U.N. headquarters in Gaza after coming under fire from Palestinian militants, a senior Israeli military officer said on Thursday.

Maybe it's remembering Sam Kinison's routine about the French embassy destroyed in the bombing run on Libya in the '80s ("Build a new house!"). Or maybe I'm a bad person. Either way, that made me smile...

That is all.

So the UN let Hamas fire rockets and RPGs from the area then gets upset when they get shelled. . . . um DUH folks. . .

That is funny. And to think these idiot want to run the world. . . they seem to stupid to live long. . .

Can we do that in NYC too? call it urban renewal or something?

Israel must have the worst military intelligence in the world. They always seem to hit buildings full of innocent civilians. /sarcasm

I suppose it's not the least bit possible that the Hamas TERRORISTS (not militants) make a habit of using civilians facilities for cover from which to launch attacks. /more sarcasm

You know, just Al Qaeda never did that in Iraq. Or the Taliban don't do in Afghanistan. Or Islamofascists don't do just about everywhere else in the world. /even more sarcasm

That's when they're not actually ATTACKING soft civilian targets.

Nope, it's everyone else always carrying out unprovoked attacks on the poor peace loving Islamaniacs.

And the UN is just one more terrorist enabling organization. Maybe the Israelis can bring some of that artillery to Turtle Bay.

Not that I have any strong opinions on the subject.

What's NOT being said, is the Israelies ONLY counterbattery when they take fire from a location, so by default, somebody was shooting at them from THAT location... Agree with JD on that one!

Yes. You should have chuckled a WHOLE LOT, just like I did.

Oh wait, that's not what you meant, is it...?

Well, I'd be interested to know how you know that. That is if everybody's done chuckling at one of the worst disasters on the planet right now. I ask all you laughing boys, do you not think Israel is going a little overboard on this one?

I beg to differ.

What's happening in Zimbabwe is a disaster.

What's happening in Gaza is justice.

WIN.

Those bitching about "disproportionate response" must approve of the random shelling of civies.

No Mikeb302000, I don't think it's disproportionate at all. Hamas started this by lobbing rockets at civilian targets in Israel. Even much of the rest of the Arab world is tired of them.

This time it's Different, as I mention in my blog post. Apparently this time Israel has decided to fix the problem. It's Hamas that has decided, like Islamic cowards everywhere, to use civilians as screens for their murderous attacks on other civilians.

Israel has two choices, ignore attacks on it's people or remove the threat. In removing the threat, try as they might, there are going to be some civilian casualties. Which is far different than attacking with the intent of causing civilian casualties.

But Mike, it's only Jews, so who cares right?

Mikeb302000 - Israel evacuated Gaza in 2005. Not just its military, but it forced all of its citizens to leave, as well. They left behind all of their infrastructure (I'd have let my military demoltion teams have a field day had I been in charge). There was literally not one Jew in all of Gaza (well, not until a couple weeks ago), and the Gazans had the opportunity to freely elect their own government.

What happened? Gazans elected Hamas, among the most brutal of the terrorist organizations and one which still has as its goal the destruction of Israel (and, one would presume, as many of its citizens as possible). OK, by itself that is merely disturbing, not a justification for war.

But Hamas lived down to its reputation. 7,200 rockets were fired into Israel in the last 3 years, and deliberately fired at civilian areas with the specific intent of harming or killing as many Israeli civilians as possible.

The ancestors of the people amongst whom you have lived for the past 20 years (because the USA sucks too much for you) would have marched in, killed all adult males, dragged away the women and children into slavery, and salted the earth. Israel, however, is more humane (and, I might add, stupidly, nearly suicidally, tolerant), and sucked it up for 3 years - I defy you to name one country that would have done the same. Israel is only intentionally targetting terrorists (and placing its own soldiers at risk, as it always does, to reduce civilian casualties) - terrorists who intentionally hide behind their own woman, children and sick/injured (as in having a major bunker under a hospital). Any casualities are, by written and moral law, on the heads of Hamas. That Israel has killed only roughly 1,000 people in 3 weeks of heavy bombardment (most of whom are, in fact, terrorists) is little short of a miracle.

All the rest of us on this thread sincerely wish that you'd remove your head from your ass.
