Snakes in a Locker???

In the grand tradition of bringing you news that makes you say, "huh???", I present the following story that I saw on the morning news:

Python Found In Newton North High School Locker
Newton North High School janitor Ed Reardon was just looking through abandoned lockers and cleaning out books at the end of the school year, but the discovery he made in the last row made him jump.

"Something hit the floor in front of my feet. I thought it was a piece of clothing but it was too heavy for clothing," he tells WBZ-TV.The plop was a slithery creature, a ball python, curled up in an attack stance.

Oh sure, we all laughed at the campiness of "Snakes on a Plane". It's all harmless fun, certainly nothing of any import. Little did we realize we'd be empowering the Pythonidae family to find new and exotic locations in which to hide and wait for unsuspecting humans... In all seriousness, it's good that the snake was discovered now before it starved to death or died of dehydration.

Serpent lest ye fall victim to the classic hidden snake maneuver!

That is all.

Have you been following the ongoing issues in Florida? Apparently, people have been dumping (or losing) their Burmese pythons, with the result that huge snakes are roaming the wild eating native animals.

Seriously.

The situation apparently got bad enough that the state actually declared a python hunting season. And, as of the first of the month, sale of certain pythons (including the Burmese) is now illegal.

Thank goodness it wasn't an empty shell casing. THAT would have been a serious problem.
