Missouri S&T in Rolla is locked down after police chase ex-con to campus in stolen car
ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T University went on a lockdown just before 9 a.m. Thursday after a report that a man with a gun was on campus in McNutt Hall, a building in the mining department. A text alert was sent out and a message was posted on S&T's website.
Law enforcement officers later said no shots were fired on campus but some shots were fired near campus.
Police found the weapon later, an "AK-47" (I'd wager a semi-auto clone) near the scene. No one was injured. That's the good news. The bad news, though, is that not only was this a felon in possession of a gun (illegal on the federal level), but he also ignored the "NO EVIL GUNZ ALLOWED!!!!1111oneoneone" signs posted at the school that are supposed to ward off the boogeymen.
- Felon in possession of a firearm.
- Firearm on school grounds.
- Shots fired in a residential are.
Here's the one sentence synopsis for those that require sound bite/bumper sticker/Twitter-like feeds: Criminals. Don't. Obey. The. Law.
That is all.

Remember Jay, if guns were as illegal as murder nobody would be murdered with guns!
We must do more only harder until we achieve a magical utopia!
We should make those bumper stickers...
Jay, it looks like it was even worse - he was trying to sneak onto an Army base, and ran (into the base when the guard realized his ID was a fake. The base police chased him around for a while before he got off base and the town cops took over.
He got away for a while, but they've caught him, now.
He forcefully entered a secured military base, stole a car and shot at police too... Triple plus ungood!!!
Wonder if he got the weapon from Mexico via the ATF? Damn those Straw Buyers!
Of course, I'm sure the Missouri Fusion Center was tracking this guy for Homeland Security and an arrest was imminent, correct? After all, that's why Millions of Tax Payer Dollars were spent, to catch guys like this, right? What's that? He WASN'T a Member of a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Based Militia, and he slipped through the cracks?
Never mind.
It's even worse than that. The fellow began his rampage by crashing through the gate at Ft Leonard Wood Army base after the MP recognized his ID was fake. Then the cops chased him 30 miles at speeds exceeding 100 mph while he fired his weapon at them and then he reached the university.
So add:
1. fake ID
2. illegal entry to military base
3. high speed pursuit
4. brandishing a firearm
5. firing a weapon from a vehicle
6. assault with a deadly weapon
7. attempted murder
IANAL, so there are probably a dozen more that you could add to the list.
