GOAL sponsored S.661, "An Act Relative to the Common Defense", is scheduled for a public hearing:This is the MA "Castle Doctrine" bill, which would strengthen the language already on the books for MA residents who use force to repel intruders. It would also protect against civil lawsuits resulting from lawful self-defense. All this bill does is enhance the existing laws that pertain to self-defense and safeguards against retaliation in the civil courts. It has been kicked around for a couple of years now, and is finally getting a public hearing.
Public Hearing - 2/7/12: The Joint Committee on the Judiciary has scheduled a public hearing on 2/7/2012 at 1:00 pm in Room B-1 at the State House.
