Pair may avoid heat as evidence melts away
The second law of thermodynamics is threatening to overrule the laws of Massachusetts as the only evidence against two Salem men charged with stealing the head of a dragon ice sculpture has been reduced to a puddle of water.Apparently the Salem, MA police department has never heard of cameras or video recording equipment, because there was no other evidence of the crime. No one thought to take pictures, get a video, or otherwise note that something had been stolen. Something constructed of ice and therefore transient.
“The head of the dragon has melted away,” Salem Police Lt. Andre Ouellette said yesterday.
Psychologist William B. Hare, 47, and Rajendra Srivastava, 30, both of Pleasant Street, were charged with larceny over $250 for twice making off with the head of a dragon ice sculpture early Feb. 12 that was part of a downtown celebration that weekend.
[shakes head]
I certainly hope in seven years I'm above petty theft and drunken vandalism - and I'm not a mental health professional...
That is all.

Jay, you're expecting a lot from a town where spectral evidence was permitted in court.
