I Need One of These...
Friend, gunsmith extraordinaire (on a par with Wally!), and person I look forward to meeting later this year Spear sent in this picture of something I need:

What you really need is a punt gun. ;)
I think a 4-bore plays a minor role in the book Unintended Consequences. But don't read it for that, its 90-thousand pages long.
I am currently re-reading UC, actually...
You really want to destroy your wrists and shoulder don't you? The largest weapon I've fired was a M72A2 LAW Rocket, but it has little if any recoil, the most powerful I've fired was a .458 Weatherby Magnum. I'll pass on ever shooting one again. I like my should attached to my body and my spine mostly straight.

Contender grips are really unsuited for that. Neck it down to 7mm and stuff it in a Rem XP. That would be interesting to shoot....once.
I'm pretty sure shooting that in a contender would have a definite chance of breaking your wrists on its way of flying out of your hands and possibly braining you.
There's a reason Pfeifer-Zeliska .600 Nitro Express revolvers are the size of carbines and weigh 12 pounds.
This round dwarfs the .600 Nitro Express.

I had a feeling you were reading UC, Jay. Jealous of Henry Bowman? I've got a 4" bbl .44 Mag you can shoot if you feel like channeling your inner Bowman. (Yeah, I know he had a 5". It's as close as I get.)
When Spear dropped that in my hand I was like, "Nice trash can." Why not just get a 2-shot derringer chambered in 4-bore? Sure, it would be an AOW, but really.
