Afternoon Larf...

Had to re-post this one from FB:

It goes hand-in-hand with an observation I've made about toddlers just starting the whole "walking" process: They look like miniature drunks. Seriously. Next time you're around a toddler, watch them walk. They'll stagger a few feet, grab on to a piece of furniture for support, stagger a few more feet, then fall flat on their butts. It's very much like college, right down to the throwing up on themselves...

Anyhoo, I thought it was funny...

That is all.

So I went into the butcher shop the other day. There was a new guy behind the counter, and he looked at me kinda funny. "You look like a bettin' man", he said.

"Maybe", I said.

"Well", he said, "I bet you can't reach that meat up there."

"No, sorry, I can't take that bet", I replied. "The steaks are too high."

Nothing like watching a drunk or a toddler try to walk to remind you of the effect of randomness on every aspect of our lives.

Daniel,

Did you happen to walk into The Butchery? It has been too long since I've been to Brookline and had a falafel at Rami's.

Even more amusing in some ways is taking a toddler who already isn't very steady on their feet and giving them something for a bit of sedation that truly does make them think drunk.

Then you get them blowing bubbles at you and giggly and batting their eyelashes in addition to being unsteady. (As well as no longer in pain, which is the real reason for it. The above are just the additional, and often hilarious, bonus features!)

Funny, now you mention it

I've noticed the same similarity between toddlers and Irish adults.

Brad,

I don't get to the Butchery (or to Rami's) nearly as often as I should... and I live around the corner from them both!

I sense a new theme here -- Falafel and Firearms, or Shawarma & Shooting, or something like that. Whatever. Let's get together sometime, send some lead downrange, and then chow down at Rami's (or Reuben's, if kosher deli does it for you).

Jay, you want in? You can pretend to be Jewish for a day. *wink*
