Almost Forgot To Mention...

So, last night was our Boy Scout Troop's Troop Court of Honor. They hold one three times a year for Scout advancement, and the one in June is typically reserved for welcoming new Scouts to the troop, giving them their Troop neckerchief and slide, and adding their name to the advancement trail. TheBoy is now an official Scout:

Later on in the Court of Honor, one of the Scouts was advancing to Life Scout. It's a big step, and involves earning three merit badges and attending a certain number of Troop events, etc. This Scout was asked what his favorite event was, and he mentioned the Camporee held last month - when pressed why that was his favorite, he responded immediately:
Because we got to shoot guns!
Yes. We are winning, even in Massachusetts.

That is all.

God bless you sir. Tiger is the most challenging rank for many reasons. The boys are *so* full of energy, and if the program isn't as robust as they are, there will be fewer wolves next year...

Enjoy the trip Jay. You'll have an Eagle in the house before you realize it.

(He's not still grumbling about dropping out, is he?)

And if you are "blessed with a gal", then Girl Scouts are a great thing, too.

There is still hope. Venturing, the 14 and older program of the BSA has both young men and young women. Ask your local Boy Scout council for a crew near you.
