Gettin' Out the Shocked Face...

Ripped from the local headlines:

Drugs Found In Car That Collided With School Bus In Kingston
HALIFAX (CBS) – Drugs were found in a Halifax teen’s car that collided head-on with a school bus in Kingston back in March.
Monica Knight, a 17-year-old junior at Sliver Lake Regional High School, was in court Thursday facing several charges related to the accident on March 30, hours before the school’s junior prom.

Someone that slammed into a BRIGHT YELLOW SCHOOL BUS in the early morning was on drugs? NO WAY! Next thing you're going to tell me is that no one is really going to send me a million dollars from a Nigerian prince if I just supply all my banking information... Side note: A 17 year old junior has a freakin' BMW? And is into drugs? Repeat after me: No sh*t sherlock!

What I really wanted to point out, though, was this picture:

(from link)

Notice the damage done to the car. Then look at the school bus. There is absolutely something to be said for mass, folks - that picture doesn't lie. There's a link to the original story that has a video as well. The crash was of sufficient velocity to trigger the air bags in the car, meaning that the impact was above 20-30 MPH. All five kids in the car were hurt, two severely. The bus driver was uninjured.

Yeah, I'll be sticking with the Dodge Earthf**ker for a while...

That is all.

School buses are arguably one of the safest vehicles on the road. They tend to win against almost anything else. When we did extrication training on buses, the standard technique was to cut between the "ribs:, because even with the Jaws, it was tough going cutting through the ribs.

Like Tommy said. The proof...

p=m*v (momentum=mass times velocity)

A great equation to keep in mind to prevent the loss of your life. This is why SMART cars, are not so smart.
