I Stand Corrected.

Huh. I never thought they'd have the stones...

House holds Holder in contempt
Washington (CNN) -- The House of Representatives voted Thursday to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in criminal contempt for refusing to turn over documents tied to the botched Fast and Furious gun-running sting -- a discredited operation that has become a sharp point of contention between Democrats and Republicans in Washington.
The 255-67 vote marked the first time in American history that the head of the Justice Department has been held in contempt by Congress. Almost every House Republican backed the measure, along with 17 Democrats.
17 Democrats voted to hold US Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt. How's that partisan witchhunt now? What's especially funny is that the burden of prosecuting Holder falls to the AG for DC - who reports to Holder. Yeah, I'm guessing this investigation is going to go far... Naturally, this being CNN, they can't resist blaming the NRA for this vote - as though it were the NRA's fault that Holder deliberately stonewalled this investigation.

It will be interesting to see what happens now - smart money's on a whole lot of nothing...

That is all.

I don't hold much hope for justice, I'm afraid.

So, what now? Holding Holder in contempt of congress means what? What's the next step?

The next step is up to the Department of Justice... impeachment.

Holder runs Justice.

What if he just ignores the contempt vote and continues doing what he has been doing?

The people behind Obama believe they are revolutionaries. They won't be deterred by this vote.

I believe that if DoJ doesn't do anything then the House appoints their own person to do the job for them.

The proceedings against Holder, while he's sitting AG, are meaningless. (They could set the stage well for legal proceedings when he's out of office, though, which he will be someday... hopefully in January.)

More to the point, this is electioneering ammo for Romney. He can portray the Obama Administration as a gang of liars, cheats, and amateurs, with not a real grownup in the bunch. (Yeah, we knew that, but this is something real he can point to.)

rather than looking at this as a gun ban conspiracy, why not look at it as a well executed plan? If we give all the drug cartels guns, they kill each other, and no more drug problem! Let them kill each other off! Kinda like Iran contra.
