The best part of reloadin' is the unloadin' afterwards.

Awesome, congrats!

How cost effective is it to do it yourself?

What are you cookin'? Could be my eyes, but that nickle case looks a bit under size.

Congrats! And take every advantage of Wally's expertise.

Though it's not a real test until you fire them off.

Also you might want to look into some L. E. Wilson (or other) gages.

They're handy for checking OAL, headspace, crimp, and the like.

Shooting off the first cartridge that you ever loaded yourself -- that's a rush. "It works!"

After that, the question "how much ammo do I have?" becomes a lot more open ended. I haven't shot factory loaded .45 or .38, in years.

The scale and caliper are very important. Check everything you can on the first batch you load. Once you know for certain how consistent your equipment and techniques are, then you can go for speed and volume.

Good start. Next, the progressive press. Followed by bullet casting, and loading for hard-cast bullets. Then, Grasshopper, will you truly be well along the path to enlightenment.

Sci-Fi,
The 45 that Jay loaded works out to about $6.25/50.
