The Justice Department moved Friday to shield Attorney General Eric Holder from prosecution after the House voted to hold him in contempt of Congress.The contempt vote technically opened the door for the House to call on the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia to bring the case before a grand jury. But because U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen works for Holder and because President Obama has already asserted executive privilege over the documents in question, some expected Holder's Justice Department to balk.
There was talk of an "independent counselor" to oversee the process, since the person responsible for the investigation is a Holder appointee who reports to, you guessed it, Holder. Looks like that point is moot, now, given that there won't be any prosecution no matter what is found. Isn't it nice that the Obama administration acts quickly to shield its employees from the consequences of their actions when it's convenient?
Now, please put on your wayback hats. Remember back when Bush's AG Michael Mukasey refused to prosecute two Bush administration officials for their role in the firing of 9 US Attorneys? Yeah, that was back in the days when a president claiming executive privilege was a baaaad thing, and needed to be brought to light to expose the "most secretive administration EVAH". Yeah, this was back in the days when US Attorney Generals responded to information requests rather than withholding documents...
The more I hear about this story, there more I think there's something to the accusation that Holder knows something on Obama...

Yes I believe that holder knows or has something on the obungler, but
IM(nv)HO there's a bunch of folks behind the fast & furious. The obungler for starters,Ole Hillary,
holder, big sis from HS & probably a whole bunch more all conspired to move the guns so they could rant & rave about illegal guns in Mexico & then re-enact the "assault weapons" ban & probably some other firearms bans.
They got caught with their socialist hands on the constitution working to subvert it and now are scrambling like hell to save their own asses. I'd like to see some proof of the attempt to destroy the 2nd amendment & then a treason charge against all of them.
Stock in both Smith & Wesson and Ruger were up significantly Friday. Coincidence? Doubt it.

What would happen if Congress just put this to rest for 6-7 months and then re-opened the investigation/prosecution with Romney in the White House and a new Attorney General?
Granted, I'm assuming Romney is in the WH next Jan. and the Pubs retain control of the House. But what's to stop them from prosecuting Holder then?
Of course, I wouldn't put it past Holder and Obama to somehow "lose" (or just outright destroy) the pertinent documents during the regime change.....
Holder probably has a copy of the REAL birth certificate.
