H.1567 Action Alert

With just a few days left in the formal legislative session the Joint Committee on Public Safety released H.1567 with a favorable report. H.1567 "An Act Relative to the Right to Carry Firearms" was filed by Rep. George Peterson on behalf of Gun Owners' Action League at the beginning of the current legislative session, and is now with the House Committee on Ways & Means.This is a bill aimed at helping Massachusetts join the vast majority of US states in requiring "shall issue" concealed carry permits. We would join the 41 other states that issue permits upon successful completion of all requirements rather than leaving the permitting process to the discretion of a designated authority. No longer would an upstanding citizen be denied their constitutionally enumerated right to keep and bear arms simply because the Chief of Police (or their designee) didn't like the cut of their jib.
IOW, no more TJICs.

Dang. Missing the one on the left.
That graphic is even more awesome because every firearm there is or was a military issue piece. Their focus is clearly on the original intent of the 2nd amendment.
Incidentally, 5 of the 7 are hanging on my wall or in my safe.

What exactly is that one on the left?
If "Shall issue" passes, maybe that means that I, as an out of stater, can get a permit that is good for more than "hunting and sporting" - especially since I don't do hunting and sporting.
The only good my permit does me is that I can legally have an empty gun locked away in a case without getting arrested for it. Or, if I have an empty shell casing in my car, I will probably be okay. For that, I pay $100 a year and have and "interview" and have my fingerprints taken (cause they are going to change every year).

It is unlikely that the bill will be signed into law. It has to get through another committee, not be back-room killed by the MA coalition of Chiefs of Police, and then get signed by the very anti-gun Gov. Patrick, all before end of business on July 31. I agree the bill is a major step forward, but I just don't see it coming to fruition.
@Mr. Metal, the gun on the far left could be a Kentucky Rifle, or something similar. It would be on par with the British Brown Bess.

Looks like a Brown Bess to me.
I shot one once that had some parts that dated to the Revolution.
Have also shot the 1917 Enfield,
Garand, M14 (yes, a real one), the
several ARs and an M16.
