Setting Your Sights...

A while back, I was contacted by a gentleman from Gemini Defense about testing their Z-Flex pistol sights:

He explained the concept - the sights are designed for rapid target acquisition under any condition, with the tall sights set up for rapid alignment and the break in the middle for fine adjustment. Here's a close-up:

It's an interesting concept, and once I can get it installed I'm curious to give it a try. They're manually-illuminated sights as opposed to tritium, and while they do need to be exposed to light, they're quite bright:

My gut reaction is that the tritium is superior, in that they're always lit, but the claim on the Z-Flex is that a short (~ 1 minute or less) exposure to light yields a 6-8 hour charge. I'll be sure to test that once installed, as well as how well the sights work on the range.

The concept makes sense in theory, it's a matter of how well it translates in practice that we'll find out.
