Baltimore County Break-In Turns Deadly
A break-in this morning in Essex turned deadly when one of the alleged suspects died from injuries sustained from getting in the head with what police say was 'a blunt object.'Two men armed with guns broke in and started shooting. Rather than rolling over and dying, the homeowner grabbed "a blunt object" and proceeded to beat one of the men to death. The other dude took off running, which is a pretty sound tactical move when you've shot somebody and their response is not to die but to beat your friend to death.
Baltimore County Police responded around 1:25 a.m. Sunday to an apartment in the 1400 block of Strawflower Road.
He had a blunt object in a gunfight, and still came out ahead. That's pretty damn badass right there. Even if the two dudes only had .22s, that's still pretty damn tough. It really does go to show that the mindset is the key - rather than roll over and die, rather than meekly submit to being the victim, this dude got angry. I mean, plum crazy mean. He started swinging, took one guy out and scared the other guy away. That's a big win all the way around.
Unless, of course, you're an advocate for the ever-growing Nanny state and feel that self-help should be discouraged, of course...
That is all.

Yep, score one for the good guys! Hopefully his recovery is a quick one!!!
Thank God the victim didn't live in the UK. They would have taken him to a prison infirmary instead of a hospital for using any kind of force and resisting the yobs. (Even sadder is that the prison infirmary is probably preferable to an NHS hospital when you have life threatening injuries.)
I hope the blunt object wasn't damaged.
Armed Texan, you're probably right, one good reason why (as much as I love it) I'm glad I'm not in the UK anymore...
I've never understood why people don't grasp that a 'blunt' object can be lethal. Have they never picked up a hammer?
One of the more interesting exercises is to take a look around one's desk and identify what objects are actually useful weapons when all else fails.
The *person* is the weapon. The object used is a tool. Nothing more, nothing less. This is why gun control as it is currently practiced is so infuriating.
Jay,
Good point!
My apologies
How about we require the anti-self-defense folks (sheilajacksonlee comes immediately to mind) actually call what they are proposing for what they really are: "Runaway Laws" - ie you have to runaway at all costs - what's that you say, your wife is being raped, too bad ya gotta run away.....
OTB MCPO sends
Blunt object control...for the chillll-drennnnn!!!
What Armed Texan said, also applies here in Australia unfortunately. We're expected to just roll over and take it.
You are expected to just roll over and take it because you have allowed it to happen. Yes, you. Do not like your current situation? Then change it. Change your government representatives and administrators. Change your laws. Act as if your life and the lives of those who you love depends on it, because it does. Stop whining and act, now.
