Brain implant turned man into passionate Johnny Cash fan
Researchers say they were left shocked after a man being treated for severe obsessive-compulsive disorder became a passionate Johnny Cash fan after having a stimulation device planted in his head.Oh, those crazy Aussies! Imagine not being a fan of Johnny Cash! I mean, HELLO?
A report in the Frontier in Behavioral Neuroscience journal by Mariska Mantione and colleagues describe the case of “Mr. B.”, a 58-year-old Dutch man who had suffered severe obsessive-compulsive disorder from the age of 13.
Now, the science behind this story is amazing. I had no idea there were electro-cortical stimulators actually in use. We've had pacemakers to regulate heartbeats for many decades; however modulating brain waves is pretty uncharted territory. And, as we're finding out, things that we would have no idea would be connected are turning out to be so...
I mean, really!
That is all.

They had a implant for irritable bowel syndrome but they discontinued it after all the patients became Taylor Swift fans.
The cure was worse than the disease.
