The 707 HP Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat: The World's Most Powerful Sedan
The mad scientists at SRT shocked the world this summer by bringing us the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, the most muscular muscle car ever, which packs a stonking 707 horsepower supercharged Hemi V8. Now, in the ultimate proof that you can have your cake and eat it too, it comes in four door form. There are specs listed.
The eagerly-awaited Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is being unveiled right now at a special Chrysler event at the Vinsetta Garage on Woodward Avenue. And like its sibling, it also has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
- 0-60 MPH: 3.7 seconds. That's motorcycle territory, people. FAST motorcycle territory. You will SMOKE Corvettes and Mustangs in this car.
- Top speed: 204 MPH. Yes. You read that correctly. An American SEDAN that can top 200 MPH. Carroll Shelby's infamous Cobra was originally designed so that there would actually be an American car capable of exceeding the double hundred mark.
- Quarter mile: 11 seconds. Holy flying bucket of s**t but that's amazing, folks. Most heavily modified street cars are SMOKIN' fast if they can do a sub-13 quarter mile.
- Eight - yes, eight - speed automatic transmission. No manual listed, but I'm guessing with SEVEN HUNDRED HORSEPOWER it ain't gonna matter.
Not bad for a grocery-getter, eh?
Man, I thought they were nuts when they stuffed the Hemi in the Dodge Magnum, but the Hellcat makes that seem tame by comparison. Now, the Charger Hellcat has an MSRP of $65K, so this is highly unlikely to make its way into the G. garage, but I can dream, right?
$65K, though, is far less money than a 7-series Beemer, or an AMG Mercedes, and this will absolutely stuff them off the line. That's gotta be humbling for the boys in Stuttgart, to have Lee Iacocca's old company - the one Daimler kicked to the curb - produce something that can stomp a mudhole in their cars' exhaust and drive it dry...
Now, shoehorn that motor into a Fiat 500 and you've REALLY got something...
That is all.

Ooof indeed.
Ugh. I really don't like what they've done with the grill on the 2015's.
Nice engine, though.
Only one problem: It says "Dodge" on the nameplate...
Ferris Bueller flashback...
BOWMP BOWMP OH YEAH...BOWMP BOWMP OH YEAH...!!
I would do Very Bad Things for that car.
Not a fan of the 2015 front end, either, although in Hellcat trim it doesn't look that bad. In lesser trims, the Charger ends up looking like a Dart from head-on.
Personally, I think I'd rather have the Challenger version, preferably in "Kowalski White." (Ticket for the geezer bus, please.)
Although if I had the money for either Hellcat, odds are in less than an hour the car and I would both either be impounded by the cops...or upside down and on fire in the woods.

Also, the quarter mile time was on street tires.
Off to buy lottery tickets and practice saying "Hello, officer. What seems to be the problem?"
Now where did I put that map of Montana?
Damn, now I have to decide which Telephone Pole I want to wrap myself around if I can get that car!
Sorry, but I can take a 90's Eclipse GSX or Talon and with a much smaller amount of cash make it do 10 second 1/4 miles (and reach the 9's without too much more effort), on street tires.
Okay, that does it. Next Wednesday I am DEFINITELY going to cash my Social Security Check and buy a bucket full of Lottery Tickets!
And ... Kevin ... how can you be so negative?
City of Houston will have their Parking Enforcement SWAT in those, in ....3...2...1
Regular P.D. will get the Smart Cars, I reckon.

Robert:
Stick with the Talon body, as it has more internal bracing than the Eclipse. Should be stiffer as a result. I suspect it was done to make it less "squeaky", for the more upscale market the Talon was aimed at.
There is a six speed manual available if you so desire it.
That much power, and you still get a fair warranty that can be extended.
Hell, you're allowed to track race this thing, and still keep your warranty!
I would have to subscribe to a monthly drop ship of tires if I had this sucker.
Looks like somebody at SRT got smoked one too many times by Godzilla. :-)
BSR
Wish I still had the reflexes to handle that. 10 GT Mustang puts me at my depth these days.
To put 700hp for $65k in perspective, the next least expensive car with 700hp is the Ferrari F12 which goes for voer $300k.
The 6-speed manual option makes me want to buy lottery tickets.
Unfortunately, I would so kill myself in rather short order in that machine, most likely.
