Gone To The Dark Side...

"Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will..."

Well, perhaps I'm prone to a certain level of hyperbole. Or maybe I just wanted to toss out another sci-fi quote to bolster my geek cred...

Either way, there's a good chance that tonight I will officially cross over to the dark side. I won't elaborate, but I will ask two questions that might shed some light on my enigmatic title and introduction. I'm hoping that certain people who know these things might be able to enlighten me...

1. Does the subcompact Glock 45 fit in the same holsters as the subcompact 9/.40S&W?

2. Anyone got a line on pre-ban G21 13-round magazines?

Just asking. Purely out of academic curiosity, you understand...

That is all.

Doooooo it.

IIRC both the grips and slide are wider on the .45&10mm.

I'll check tonight for MA friendly 45 mags.

Be careful Jay, it will be fun to have, but it has no soul!

"Once you go black, you never go back!"

1.) Nope. They are wider than Aunt Esther.

2.) We should talk...

wally,

Okay. Note made. Look for specific holsters...

Mags aren't horrifically important - the "hi-caps" are 13 rounds, and I can order official Glock 10 rounders from MidwayUSA all day long for $22.50. The extra 3 rounds would be neat, but it's certainly not a deal-breaker...

If you can find some... :)

Angus,

I know it has no soul. Which is why it's positively perfect as a carry gun - I'd rather a Glock get taken away than my Gold Cup!

pistolero,

Well, I own three 1911s, and plan on at least a couple more. There's no danger of Gaston Glock surpassing John Moses Browning (PBUH) in my estimation... ;)

Unc,

Thanks for the confirm on the size. Like I said about with the mags, it's not hugely important since the standard capacity magazines fall in the MA guidelines anyways.

andrew,

Aunt Esther? That's a new one on me...

I was reluctant to even think Glocks after your 19 - that trigger just did not agree with me - until I shot a 10mm at the Pumpkin shoot last year. That was nice...

From what I have found in .40 and .357, the 10 rounders are best loaded to 9 (although I have one that takes 11).

I ditched my sig for a glock. Havent shot the sig in 3+ years now. At first I was bothered by it, the glock has no soul. But it runs like a swiss watch (which is loads better than the swiss handgun).

The glock has a great, modular, triger system. I have 3 and they have all been built identically (different frame sizes tho). Same trigger action, same night sights, different grip lengths.

Jay,
For all of your readers who are also members of The Tribe, La Shana Tovah Tikahteiyvu.

Good thing I was communing with The Almighty today and put in a good word to save your soul and watch over you. Otherwise you just might get dragged to the dark side.

The pistols in .45GAP use the same gear as the 9mm/.40 pistols, but not those in .45ACP or 10mm.

I'm tempted to the dark side simply because there is a reasonably priced conversion of the Glock .45ACP to .50GI.

I can't stand that grip angle. If I go plastic It'll be a Kahr first, and an M&P second.

I can't wait to see the pix!

Still I thought you were looking for somthing slim to carry, not somthing uber-fat....

Also FYI, have you noticed how much of Glock's technology was invented by JM Browning?

The Pistol Slide, the Browning Linkless locked breech, the Double-stack magazine....

Are you kidding? You'll be lucky if it fits in your hand, much less a holster!
:)
(No, seriously, the .45 is huge compared to the 940.)

Not to tip my hand or anything, but watch this space on Friday...

Hey, if you get the Glock 21 and it runs empty, you can always throw it down and use it for cover!

I rib on the Big Slab, but I've got a G20, G21, and a G30. Having big hands (which I don't) helps, I hear.

No to the holster, it'll need it's own size.
Not all G-21 mags work well in G-30s. I've got one that works flawlessly and one that has lots of issues.
Loading 10 in the G-30 mag is sometimes impossible If so, pull a couple out and try again.
There's also a shorter 9-round mag that really makes the 30 disappear.
Based on Tam's good words for them I bought an A-grip (http://www.brookstactical.com/ ) and she did not steer me wrong. It really does help.
