9-12 Rally Update #5

Last big update from sci-fi, even more commentary and pics:

This guy was a carnival-barker par excellence, and I LOVED that sign...

not a michael vick fan...

At one point, everyone in the parade wheeled their cameras to the left and start taking pictures of a building we were passing. I couldn't figure out why or what it was until I stepped back and saw the bottom lines on the wall:

"PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE, AND TO PETITION THE GOVERNMENT FOR A REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES"

Very popular theme that day.

I stepped out into Pennsylvania Avenus (wading through marching protesters) to get a full shot:

I don't want bloodshed, but I like the (ahem) reminder that the populace has a right to defend itself, against both foreign aggressors and against tyranny.

A lof of marchers stopped to get pictures of these two....

Sure, there's a contingent of cranks and malcontents. But hey, what do you expect when the hammer of tyranny comes wrapped in a velvet glove? Tortured clichés aside, there's plenty of folks in these pictures, far more than the "thousands" that the media has been reporting. If there were "thousands" of people at this event, then there were dozens at Michael Jackson's funeral...

Let's hope this small ember of resistance turns into real, honest-to-goodness change in 2010...

That is all.
