More Compensation...

Reader Gary sends in another story that's not quite a DGC addition, but still pretty darn good:

Assault suspect shot by victim during attack
CAVE JUNCTION — An 82-year-old man who was assaulted Monday afternoon was able to fend off his attacker after shooting him in the foot during the attack at his home, police said.

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office said the 82-year-old victim shot David Roberson, 65, during an attempted assault at the man's home along the 2200 block of Dick George Road in Cave Junction. Roberson lives nearby at 1440 Dick George Road.

Again, the Brady Bunch would have had the 82 year old man take his beating, unless he felt like going three rounds with a man nearly 20 years his junior. They would rather see an 82 year old man - and his 71 year old wife - beaten and bloodied rather than have them possess the best tools for self defense - not to mention leveling the playing field. In our world, though, I'm smiling ear to ear that our hero took the words of Captain Reynolds to heart:
Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back!
Don't ever mess with old men - they don't generally hesitate.

That is all.
