Canadian Digs Out Basement Using Only Radio Controlled Scale Tractors and Trucks...Since 2005!
Excavating a basement using professional machinery is nothing new but doing it with radio controlled (RC) scaled models is something unheard of. Welcome to the little big world of Joe, from Saskatchewan, Canada. What's funny is that the original story made a mistake on the start date. Joe has been using R/C equipment since 1997, but only started on his basement in 2005. He's all indignant about the 8 years... Go take a look at some of the pictures - amazing stuff! There's even a series of videos like this one:
For the past 7 years (!), Joe has been digging out his basement at an average annual rate of 8 to 9 cubic feet using nothing more than RC tractors and trucks!
There's an earlier story here with a ton (I should say "tonne" since he's Canadian, eh?) of pictures. There's some really impressive heavy equipment at work here, and he's built all of it himself - that's the amazing part to me. I've built a fair number of models in my time, and even a simple 1/24th scale car takes a good amount of time. A 1/12th scale Peterbuilt is a whole different ballgame - let alone one that's remote controlled!
Go check it out - it's pretty nifty!
That is all.

I want to see the tiny jackhammers and blasting trucks!
You have to do stuff like this when you can't have guns!
I'm surprised there's nothing in the article about this fellow being embroiled in some legal dispute over zoning laws or some other happy horse-excrement like that. You know, what we'd expect here.
