Almost There!

John the Texaner sends in two different additions to bring us real close to 300...

Self-defense asserted in Walla Walla shooting
WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The lawyer for a Walla Walla store owner who killed an intruder says he fired defending himself and his property.

Attorney Michael Hubbard told KVEW ( http://is.gd/i1SF20) he expects no charge will be filed against John Saul, owner of the New York Store Western Outfitters.
The goblin what got ventilated was a known criminal and gang member. While it's a near-certainty that he was a little angel who "fell in with the wrong crowd" and "was just starting to turn his life around", he missed a simple universal fact: Don't want to get shot? Don't break into places what don't belong to you.

Homeless Man Shot, Killed in Stafford
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – A homeless man was shot and killed in an apparent act of self-defense.

A man and woman were sitting a parked car having a conversation outside Earl’s Hardware at 300 Chatham Heights Drive in Falmouth when they saw two men walking across the parking lot about 11 p.m. Tuesday. One of the men came up to car and asked the male occupant for cash. The man declined and told the beggar and his companion to go away.
The dude came back with a knife and got shot for his troubles. His buddy admits that he was the aggressor. The only potential issue I could see the shooter having is why was he sitting in a car at 11 PM (Not that *I* have a problem with it or haven't done it a zillion times myself, mind you; just thinking of it from a prosecutorial standpoint). All signs point to a good shoot, and reinforce the message that it's not safe to threaten people at random.

And to not bring a knife to a gunfight.

That is all.

Being a proud resident of virginia, and living about 10 minutes away from where this happened, I can guarantee nothing will happen. The question most cops ask around here when you're packing? "Ooh, shiny, lemme see!"

Polk County (Florida) sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a man they say broke into a Winter Haven home early this morning and was shot to death by the homeowner....

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said at a news conference this morning that Cornwell had a right to shoot the man.

"If there ever was a justified shooting, this is it," he said.

"William Cornwell had every right to protect himself, his wife and his children from this irrational, out-of-control man who broke into their home. The mistake the suspect made by breaking into that home was a fatal one."
