Time to start planning for the Fifth Annual Northeast Bloggershoot!
This year's a little different, in that the date is already chosen. Various family commitments have whittled the weekend choice down to August 12th or never, so... That's more than two full months for folks that need to make travel arrangements. Last year, out of town guests stayed in Nashua, NH, which was relatively close to the range (the closest hotel is in, ironically, Massachusetts...)
In the usual format:
Date: Sunday, August 12th. The two weekends before are spoken for, as are the following two weekends. Will need to find child care for the day, too...
Time: The shoot starts at 10:00 AM and goes until we're kicked out (typically before 5 PM - and to the best of my knowledge Doubletrouble has never kicked anyone out; we generally have had so much shootie fun that we're ready to go home and nap...)
Location: Doubletrouble's sooper seekrit range, the location of which is highly classified. It is in New Hampster, though, so all ordnance is accepted.
Attendees: Like last year and the year before, the size of the range limits us to a certain number of folks, although accommodations can be made for larger groups if we don't mind shooting in shifts and such.
Miscellaneous: As with last year, this is a "pack-in, pack-out" shoot - if you want to bring a Sturgeon-class submarine to shoot the hell out of, go right ahead. Just be prepared to drag the bullet-riddled carcass out with you. We can call the sub shop for lunch, but someone should step up to take care of the lunch order so Mrs. Doubletrouble doesn't have to deal with that again...

What's it like for an out-of-stater to try to port handguns across Massachusetts? I'm really tempted to try to come.
Dave: At least in theory, FOPA should apply. In a locked case, unloaded, in a compartment inaccessible to the passengers, and ideally with ammo in a separate locked case.
ZerCool: Thanks. I just wondered because if you try that in NYC and have to make a pit stop they'll still nab you. It only adds a half hour if I go through Vermont (I'm in western NY) so it might be worth it just to be sure.
Western NY? I'm in Schuyler County.
The drive through VT is not much longer and MUCH more picturesque. I'll take that any day over leaving my money in MA.
I hope to attend this year, was thinking of it last year but could not commit to it as I was always feeling ill then found out why when diagnossed with that big life altering interruption, the big C. Am much better now and if living stays good through August, I should be there.
It would be very nice to meet you and the others who will be there. If luck goes my way on this, my son will come along too. Maybe we can get his girlfriend to come along too, she loves shooting as much as do we.
How far in advance do you need to know how many we will be? Also, how many days does this run? Need to know the last to make reservations.

at worst i'll make the trek solo. at best, i'll have a carful. just has to depend on what Mike's doing, what Chris wants to do, and whether we can find someone to take the doggah that weekend.
